I pulled this off TimeBomb 2000. Old guy wants to sell his ulitmate bug-out Island, fully stocked and developed in the Bahamas..

He just dropped the price from $12/M to $5/M, a steal.



I know GKhan gets offers to buy GIM every once inawhile, I say swap this website for GIM island, great place for members to 'crash the boat' and stash the PMs.

Ok, I am day dreaming here, but what the hell, anything has got to be better than sticking around on the mainland when all those TARP payments come due.. and according to Hypertiger, the web is going down soon anyhow.

The internet is decentralized so it couldn't go down entirely unless something catastrophic happens globally. Global thermonuclear war, for instance, would ensure the end of the internet when all the computers ever built melted.

Barring that, the internet may go down in areas but even if an entire continent were wiped out it would still be up and running everywhere else in the world.

Seriously, the old guy did many expensive improvments on the Island already (two wells/4,000 gal-day desalination setup, 7 mile underwater wire to the mainland, solar array, ect, ect)

This is not going to be a picnic here, even if you have everything you need to live a self sufficient life, you will have to deal with all the fools/grasshopers whom have that incredible sense of intitlement.

I say, sit it out in the Bahamas, return to your farm after the die off. The people who survive may be worthy neighbors..

Fifteen acres of coral sands doesn't meet my standards for self-sufficiency. No soil, no source of fresh water besides rain, and the constant threat of piracy when it isn't being patrolled by military.

I should clarify: piracy is rare in that region now, but in a SHTF situation, especially in a slow crash or other extended situation, it'd be the way to go for easier plunder.

Well, who needs five million then? Maybe it's time to round up a band of GIM pirates and lock the Island's coordinates into our GPS system?

I would have to agree, security will be a main issue as this collapse progresses. I've been to other forums (you probably have also) where one forum member shows his assult rifles and says, "In a SHTF senerio, this is all I will need."

I presented this thread as half serious, trying to inspire a little out of the sand box thinking..

But without security there will be no survival. That said, a few mini-guns located in key locations should ward off the small time somalia types who I would guess be the major threat.

I am more worried about the crooks in orginized government, who ever the local warlord is, you will be expected to pay tribute to survive...
